Blog: Solutions On Stage - A Service for Life

As a company, Solutions On Stage was formed eight years ago with one aim in mind – to take the complexity out of compliance. With a particular focus in the theatre and education sectors, we set out to ensure we could oversee the complete technical safety of any performance space. And whilst our mantra was ‘safety first’, this has now taken on a double meaning; in the sense that whilst compliance was indeed the first service that we offered, we have now evolved to provide a full range of technical solutions. In fact, one of our main aims as a company is to support the life-cycle of our customers’ performance spaces, through the range of services we offer. As such, we thought we’d put together a blog which looks at these specific services and explain how, together, they contribute to the longevity of countless venues up and down the country.

Inspections

As a company, our inspections still very much lie at the heart of what we do and we want to offer our clients the broadcast range possible. Any performance space must adhere to a very specific set of technical rules and regulations; though, in many cases, some venues aren’t even aware of what these are or that such a standard even exists. As such, it’s our role to take what can be very overwhelming and complex and make it as clear and accessible as possible. Some of the inspections we offer include Fixed Wire Testing Electrical Inspection, Mechanical Inspections as well as In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment. We also offer a free site survey, through which we inform customers – again, as clearly as possible – of the practical next steps they need to implement within their venue. For us, our inspections are the start of our journey with a customer and us working in their space. It allows us to understand what exactly they require from it, meaning we are able to assist, not only on future inspections, but also additional services – which include…

Maintenance and Repair

When we carry out venue inspections, there is often equipment that requires some element of repair as well as on-going maintenance. This is something, as a company, we are primed to deliver. With our team having worked in performance venues their entire careers, we know how faulty or outdated equipment can impact the successful running of a space – ensuring it fails to achieve its full potential. As such, we want to ensure that your entire technical set-up is running as it should. Our qualified engineers will work on-site and around your schedule (given the notoriously busy schedules for both theatres and schools). Ensuring your equipment is repaired and maintained is also incredibly beneficial when it comes to long-term costs for our customers – as it therefore limits the amount of repairs or even replacements needed moving forward. Equally, by ensuring equipment is properly maintained, we are extending its life and making sure each customer achieves the best return on their investment.

That said, we regularly speak to customers who, rather than repair existing equipment, would rather replace it with a more up-to-date model. Similarly, there are many that would prefer to upgrade their entire set-up with a brand-new installation. So, as part of our commitment to a venue’s life-cycle, another service we offer is…

Installations

Eventually, even venues who undergo a rigorous training programme will require an upgrade – in terms of new equipment, new technical system, new control, new everything! At Solutions On Stage, we can provide all of this. Offering installations was a natural step for us as a company. Given our in-depth understanding of our customers spaces, we were able to provide solutions tailored to their specific need. Whether it’s a theatrical venue that needs a brand-new lighting rig or a school that needs a new audio system, our dedicated team can advise and deliver the exact install you require. It is also worth noting too that we don’t just provide installations to existing customers. Rather, we welcome clients we’ve never worked with before to offer a fresh perspective on their venue and how an installation can elevate it to their exacting needs.  And drawing on our other services, we are able to offer on-going maintenance and inspection packages to all new installations, ensuring that a client’s investment lasts for years to come.

That said, whilst it’s vital to have the very latest and fully-functional equipment in your space, it’s just as important that this is used correctly. Which is why we also offer…

Training

We want to ensure that the in-house team of any building has the confidence and knowledge to manage the space they work in on a daily basis. That’s why we offer training to all of our clients, in what are practical, hands-on sessions that cover all of a venue’s specific requirements and teaches them how to handle and operate equipment correctly. As both technology and health and safety requirements evolve, we see it as our job to share our knowledge and use our training to ensure customers stay completely on top of what their venue requires – and, in turn, allows their venue to thrive for as long as possible.

We hope the above gives you a clearer insight into what we offer as a company and our commitment to ensuring a venue’s life-span as well as it achieving its full potential. As you can hopefully tell, all of our services are a natural evolution and stem from us building long-term relationships with our customers and wanting to provide a complete level of service. As always, if you want to know more about any of the above, or simply want to have an informal chat with one of our team, don’t hesitate to contact us on 0117 244 8625 or email enquiries@solutionsonstage.co.uk
